TheYour logistic support base in Singapore will receive all materials
and equipment from all over the world.
RECEIVING
On the arrival of cargo we will open the consignment and check
individual packages to match the Purchase Orders against the Delivery
Orders.
Every individual box will be opened and materials identified in accordance
to the supplier's delivery order and the purchase order. All materials
are checked for the correct part numbers, and the condition the materials
are in before they are accepted.
All discrepancies
will be reported to the suppliers and a copy will be given to the rig.
Photos of any rusted or damaged materials & equipment will be e-mailed
to you to seek your advice. It would be faster and cheaper if we catch
the mistake early. With your advice, we will return all damaged and rusted
materials & equipment to the supplier so they can be exchanged.
Only materials
found correct are boxed, strapped, weighed and marked. To prevent theft,
all the carton boxes are strapped by a special machine (similar to those
in most International Airports) which does not require buckles. If the
storekeeper on the rig receives carton boxes with straps that have been
tempered-with, it must be reported to the Rig Manager before the cartons
are opened.
The weight and dimensions of individual Purchase Orders in individual
boxes are provided to the rig. The rig can then determine which items
are to be shipped by air or by sea.
All strapped
cartons are consolidated in designated areas allocated to individual locations/Rigs
awaiting shipment.
All items that you have selected for airfreight or hand carried will
be segregated and packed accordingly.
Our representative will clear the consignment and pay all necessary taxes
and arrange for the cargo to be delivered to the rig in the shortest possible
time.
DOCUMENTATION
- MATERIALS RECEIVING REPORTS
After the total consignments have been sorted out, MATERIALS
RECEIVING REPORTS will be prepared for each individual rig. All discrepancies
will be reported to both you and the suppliers. Materials that are in
question, such as short supplies, incorrect parts and damage items will
not be shipped to you until the problem has been rectified.
PACKING
All materials & equipment are packed in accordance to the means of shipment
and the facilities at the port of discharge. Strong wooden boxes are used
to ship materials & equipment to the rig. Materials & equipment are packed
separately for different rigs. Correct packing techniques are employed
to ensure the materials & equipment are secure for rough handling during
shipment.

Items in individual cartons are checked, re-counted, and
recorded before they are placed in designated wooden boxes. For cost effectiveness,
the wooden box will be filled to maximum capacity.

Waterproof plastic sheets will be fastened on top of the
wooden box before the cover is nailed. Pneumatic nailing machines are
used to ensure the wooden boxes are fastened and as secure as possible.
The wooden box will then be marked according to the rig to which the materials
are designated.
Buckleless
straps are fastened onto the nailed wooden box before the plastic film
glands are wrapped around it. To prevent theft, all wooden boxes are strapped
with a special strapping machine which does not requires buckles to hold
the straps in-place. Gland -wrap with plastic film round the box. Telltale
signs on the plastic film will show if the wooden box has been tampered
with. If the rig receives the wooden boxes with straps that have been
tampered-with, it must be reported it to the Rig Manager before opening
the consignment. EOSS are liable for all losses in the wooden box only
if photographic evident proves that the wooden box HAS NOT BEEN tampered-with.
- Before materials & equipment are placed into a strong wooden box,
the materials must be checked, counted and recorded.
- Bulky items are nailed down and secured against rough handling during
shipment.
- The wooden box will then be nailed strapped, weighted and gland wrapped.
- Waterproof plastic sheeting is secured on top of the wooden box before
the cover is nailed down.
- With total weight and volume known, we will then book space on the
earliest vessel to you.
- Performa invoice, delivery orders, and shipping manifest are prepared.
- The cargo is placed in a holding area awaiting collection for shipment.

DOCUMENTATION
The documentation process is one of the major factors of the
Logistic Management Service. To ensure that the complete process is monitored
from receiving to shipping and eventually billing; a good computerized
system is very essential.
The information gathered daily is updated on our computer system and
can be e-mailed or faxed to you. The mode and schedule of shipments can
be controlled particularly when it concerns urgent or important parts
and materials, obviously depending on the rig's maintenance programme
or any emergency's.
Materials
Receiving Reports All materials received are checked and recorded.
The weight and dimensions of each individual carton are recorded. Upon
request, we will inform you of the weight and dimensions in order for
you to determine the mode of shipment.
Short Ship and Damage Reports Any
materials received with discrepancies will be recorded and resolved with
the suppliers concerned. All reports with steps to remedy the faults are
issued to you.
Delivery Orders, Performa Invoices, Shipping
Advise In every shipment, all materials are counted again to
ensure that the materials shipped are correct and accounted for.
Your field
requisitions or purchase order numbers will be marked clearly on the outside
of each carton. This will assist your storekeeper in identifying the goods
when they are received on the rig. This information is constantly fed
into our computer system for easy extraction and transmission to you.
We are well versed with most inventory programs in the market, and we
are able to provide you with an up to-date status using your program.
Before the year 2000, we will be creating our own web site and it will
enable you to download your status data from our web site. For cost effectiveness
in operating a logistic base, productivity is the key word. Heavy investment
in a complete computer network for all our staff, which is linked with
the Singapore Trade Development Board for the preparation of Import &
Export Permits and Singapore Customs for speed clearance of cargo, is
essential.
